NEW MOVIE OVERHULL

I've been swinging around about what movie to write my essay on. I was going to do Madagascar, but due to the concideration, of the choices made, each film, was not very good with in their make up; so there for I have setled on my final film I shall write about Saving Private Ryan.

I will analys many of the film and scenes in depth and the technique used, to create the film and the mood.

januesz Kaminski I will also look into the photographer who created the films realistic look.

new concept

This is a concept of what I created, for the night scene, although this isn't done with a graphics tablet, so I had decided to try it with a mouse, although yes I have used photo shop many many times in the past with mouse, but mainly for layerring generic images, not for drawing perposes. I feel that this images is the best I have produced so far, with in my concept drawings, but i think this is helped due it being a night scene.

life drawing updates

these are my many life drawings through looking at these I feel i have made some progress , have problems in creating dark tones.

with these images i took the plunge and used a heavier pencil and i feel that this is more of a success :-)

(what I recongnize)

(what I recognize)

I need to update this blog much more, I will try my hardest in updating this blog daily, I have images yet to still aper from my sketch book and life drawings, my essay was going to be about the Tuskegee Airmen, this has since changed, due to it being historical, I could not find information bar from the story, I'm planning to change this idea to Madagascar, as was quite a revolutionary film, from when I watched the behind the scenes footage from when I had borrowed it. Due to it being a recent film, I can gather more information about it.

graphics tablet

yesterday I created and learned more about how I should create my scene... for quite a few day's I have been getting upset about how to create a scene due to creating a forest, the truth is that I've been wound up on this one scene and daunting of it. (For that i was looking at the forest and trying to put in all the detail of the leaves in the foreground at first.) I think I hid my self away from it in which is a bad thing and which this point onwards I wont do... but the brake through came from yesterday talking to Phil the Photo Shop tutor, my first original images where very flat, and I found my self being very wound up about the detail of the trees and plants in the ground but forgetting about guiding the eye and creating a decent image, now with this new information, I fill I can now relax and create decent imagery.

this is a before and after shot (this is bofore)

this is an after shot

the first image is very plain and flat, where as the second image guides the eye through picture, with learning this new technique I feel now I can relax and create more imagery for this week end I haven't got a graphics tablet due it being handed in at the end of the lesson. (the thing i enjoy when creating the sky and playing with the brushes.)

Media film update

I'm not going to lie, I need to urgently update this area, to show what films I have been watching.

The first film I watched from this term was metropolis, I found this an amazing film, due to the camera and modern day angles used with in this film, and at the time how innovative the film was in its day. it was amazing how they created the effects with out using computers, and using the only technology they had on offer. with in the story showed many political messages, I picked up on very socialist and communist messages, the film towards the very very end turned socialist.

besides this I found the scenes and sets to be amazing, I like the way they got across the vastness of the great city through the concepts used although a silent film.

Night of the Hunter

This film I found was good with in its scenes, and the sets, I like how the story was planned out. How you got the sense of him twisting everyone around him, and how he used the preacher look to word off any who doubted him. I also liked how the film got you to present the situation as your the true on looker to the fate of the children while every one else in the film was bluffed over. By Phil's words, "every adult they went to let them down" apart from the old lady at the end, in a strange way like the good Samaritan story.

The haunting

I found this really good, the use of camera angles brang out the film very well, they reminded me of angles of some zombie games like Resident Evil (though only glimpsed but not played the game.) I could relate to some of the events in the film used, as i remember my mother telling me that when she used to work at Laybourne (years ago very old mentally handicaped hospital) but used to be a mental assilum in victorian times, but people had a extremely unhappy lives there, due to she was told not to shut a certain door other wise the door bang and rattle off its hinges. It's this film that made me think off the storys my mum told my about the place. I liked the film due to also the charectors played, how the house became charector with in the film mentaly torturing the lady to death. I also found theat they used very few scenes with in the house while each event was hapenning, thinking of house large the house was due to the amount of rooms there where with in the film, this also gave a sence of clostrophobia like you couldn't breake away from the rooms shown.

Conan Doyle jurassic park

There are many variations of this book there is the usual film by Steven Spielberg The Lost World, that strangely has sadly taken over the imagination of what people think of the Lost World book by Conan Doyle. For example you say Lost World to anyone on the street and they instantly think Jurassic Park, which is quite sad in a way.

looking at many other adaptations there is the lost world from the 1925/1960 and one what seems to a be TV series in 2000

(1925 silent film)

(1960)

(2000, that seems to be a TV series)

Through reading through the scenes of the pages given too me, I'm interested on well the scenes are described, in the knowledge of what trees and plants there are with in the book to describe the amazon.... through this I have been looking up imagery of the amazon jungle and forests, I think my true challenge with in this, is going to get be light and shading with in the adaptation of the scene, as from reviewing images I feel that there are going to be many dark tones used.

with in all these shots, they use many shades and many tones and many uses of color, by gathering, aspects of these images, I can create a clearer image of what I maybe looking for, for when I create and experiment, but being careful in not just duplicating an already made image of the amazon...
